Wall Street Veteran Joins PeerStreet To Lead Capital Markets Team

Louis Nees brings more than 30 years of experience to the growing fintech firm

LOS ANGELES--()--PeerStreet, an award-winning platform for investing in real estate backed loans, is excited to announce the appointment of Louis Nees as Head of Capital Markets. He will be based in the firm’s headquarters in Los Angeles, California.

In this role, Nees is responsible for leading PeerStreet’s Capital Markets team, which plays a crucial part in interfacing with the growing number of investors seeking to invest in loans on PeerStreet. The company recently surpassed half a billion in cumulative loans funded, all with zero losses to investors, and monthly origination volumes now reach above $50 million.

With his deep Wall Street background, Nees will provide key guidance on multiple and varied capital sources for PeerStreet. Under his leadership, the Capital Markets team will focus on diversifying the company’s capital base, which will further stabilize the robust foundation of the business as it continues to grow rapidly.

“We’re delighted to have Louis join our team. PeerStreet has been experiencing tremendous growth and is quickly expanding our investor base and product offering -- we look forward to Louis’ deep expertise as we hit new milestones,” said Brew Johnson, CEO of PeerStreet. He added, “Louis will be important in helping PeerStreet transact with an increasingly large pool of customer types.”

Nees brings more than 30 years of experience to PeerStreet. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Fairlead Management, a consulting services company specializing in business strategy, corporate growth, and innovation. He also served as CEO of Walter Capital Opportunity, a private REIT. Previous positions further include SVP of Global Capital Markets for Ally Financial, Managing Director of JP Morgan’s mortgage credit derivative trading desk and SVP of Capital Markets at GMAC Mortgage.

“PeerStreet offers a truly unique platform in the real estate investing space,” said Nees. “There are enormous opportunities to build out our capital markets effort to help PeerStreet achieve its goals, and I am very much looking forward to leveraging those opportunities to support our growth and reach.”
